How to use a diamond hone

A diamond hone has many areas of use as it is highly effective at sharpening and removing steel. Water or oil is often used to prevent the diamonds in the hone from wearing out too quickly.

You can flatten whetstones, sharpen knives and woodworking tools by adjusting the grit size and coarseness of your diamond sharpening plate depending on what you are working on.

The word hone, sharpening steel or sharpening stone originally described the stone used to keep edges sharp. More extensive and coarse sharpening was traditionally done on rotating grinding stones.
