When it comes to shaving with a safety razor, it is often said that 30° is the optimal blade angle for a gentle and effective shave. This is also the angle you get on the blade with Henson's AL13. The head is designed so that the blade is pressed hard against the edge and with minimal blade exposure. This is to achieve the right angle, but also to reduce the risk of the blade flexing and bending during shaving.
Many safety razors can have problems with hair and soap residue clogging the blade. This often means that more strokes over the same area are needed to achieve the desired result, thereby unnecessarily irritating the skin. To solve this problem, Henson has made extra large channels in the head of the razor where hair and soap residue can flow through as freely as possible. This means less rinsing of the razor during shaving and more efficient shaving with each stroke.
