Should I combine beard cream with oil?

You can combine beard cream with beard oil. If you have a short beard style, a beard cream may be enough on its own. However, if you want added shine and a slightly richer feel, you can either use oil alone or apply beard cream first and then finish with oil on top. 

Apply a small amount of cream to your hand right after towel-drying your beard and face. Massage the beard cream into your beard, making sure to reach the roots and the skin beneath. Then work it through the beard. Use a comb or brush if desired. 

A major advantage of a thicker cream is that it is not as greasy as beard oil. If you need to moisturize the skin under your beard, beard cream is an excellent choice. The longer and fuller your beard, the more benefit you may get from finishing with a beard oil. 

Beard creams with and without styling effect

Some beard creams provide both hydration and a light styling effect. These can be described as a hybrid between beard wax and lotion. The definition of a cream primarily emphasizes its moisturizing properties for both beard and skin. Check the product description to see whether it includes a styling effect or not. 

When your beard becomes hydrated and softer, it naturally becomes easier to comb and less brittle. This applies to all beard creams.
